I'm surprised I didn't know this meeting was scheduled already, but I'll be there. I've also got a laptop for sale if anyone's interested. HP Pavilion x360 that I just got back from HP service. I sent it in to get all new plastics right before its warranty expired :-) It's an all-in-one notebook/tablet with 10 finger multi touch sensitive screen + stylus input, fingerprint reader, accelerometer for automatic screen rotation in tablet mode, and a full number pad, ALL working in Debian Linux. I've enjoyed it a lot but I need something more compact now. Could also use something with a GPU, though that's directly in opposition.... Model: 15 ER1152-NR CPU: 1235U Ram: 8GB ddr4 NVME: 512 It comes with one extra rubber foot piece (if you open it up to swap nvme or RAM, you'll likely want it) and three chargers, the original box, PDFs of the service and maintenance manual, and the original disk image if you want it. (It also can charge via 19v USB C PD!) HP installed a new battery, & motherboard in 2025, and new plastics last week. It was $700 new. And I can vouch for Linux support and help you tweak your install if it's not Debian to make it fully detect. If I can't get $350 from it to put toward the next one, I'll just upgrade the RAM myself and use this one for another couple of years now that the chassis is refreshed. There's nothing wrong with it but before I spend time to migrate back from my loaner laptop to the refurbished one I thought I'd throw it out there. I'll put it on FB Marketplace probably too.

Johnathan, Thanks for the reply. I appreciate where you're coming from on keeping prod as simple and stable as possible, I wasn't trying to kick off a debate. I asked because I genuinely wanted to understand your perspective. I'm with you on "no compilers on exposed prod boxes." Where containers have worked well for us is leaning on them in the build pipeline, then keeping the production image as minimal as we can: just the app (often just a binary) and whatever it needs to execute. Sometimes that's even FROM scratch, or something tiny like Alpine, rather than starting from a full Ubuntu base and carrying around things we don't need. That said, you're right that containers are another layer to operate, and it's worth treating that as real complexity. In this case, it looks like Chris already has a working example in the repo I cloned it yesterday to build one myself and found it there. One thing that stood out is the base image/deps. For reference: https://hub.docker.com/layers/library/php/8.2-apache/images/sha256-89ad17cc… It looks like some dependencies are outdated/vulnerable, so my inclination is to bump to the latest viable base and see what breaks, then work forward from there.
