question regarding modem installation on laptop

Based on that pci id, you have a 82801CA AC '97 Modem controller.  That is 
a softmodem.  Searching for a driver based on that information, you _may_ 
have some success.  Other softmodems in the same pci id range appear to be 
useable by other folks.  hsfdriver or something like that maybe.
