I can see several advantages of using linux over windows.  I've done work
repairing computer for some time whether it was a friends, schools,
buisnesses, or clients.  I would have to say that 90% of the time the problem
is user error.  They either deleted a system file, tried to install some
goofy software, or in general did something stupid.  With linux it is
possible to keep these type of people from looking around and erasing
important files, modifying important files, and keep them from installing
software.  Granted linux can't solve 100% of user errors, but it is possible
to keep them from mucking up the system easily.

Just giving my 2 cents worth.
