win95/98/ME and printers. An ethics issue comparable to DRM servers or not?

Any responsible printer owner has had ten years now to download copy
of the drivers.  That should be long enough.  I wonder how much money
these ancient printer owners were paying HP on a regular basis for a
download service.  I'd be surprised if you can get ink for something
that old but it probably etches on stone instead.
