Maybe the OOo guys should include links to MySQL and info on how to integrate it in OOo in the 
docs.  Or how about installing MySQL in a sandbox if the desktop user needs a database.  There 
ought to be a script to setup MySQL in a secure way, but such that a desktop user doesn't have to 
fiddle w/ permissions, save the data in the user's home dir, etc.

Access comes only with the more expensive Office
Professional, Office Standard does not include it. And
neither come standard with consumer computers. $460
for MS Office XP Pro, or $0 for OOo + MySql. 

Check out the how-tos that I linked to earlier, it
makes interfacing with MySql via OOo nearly a
no-brainer.
