I believe you're thinking of commercial caller number delivery, which bypasses
the privacy/blocking that normal caller ID does. Still, that seems pricy!
Most modern modems will receive and report caller ID, so if you have a program
like mgetty listening, and it's capable of logging, you can keep track. I
was just wondering if there were something more, like maybe an on-screen
pop-up or something fun.
I got rid of the second line when I took The Wolf's Den BBS offline, so if I
set something up it would actually be useful to monitor my voice line. SuSE
has an 'answering machine' package, but it appears to be focused on IDSN.
