Take a look at mgetty and its cohort sendfax.  I haven't looked at HylaFax so
I don't know which features are missing but I do know mgetty allows you to
configure which phone numbers to answer and which to ignore.  A simple grep
of the log file would tell you who called.  I have used mgetty for years to
provide dialup login but am just now beginning to investigate the FAX features.
