Yep, that's it. I knew it was one of the reserved local net addresses.
But it should not have ignored my settings. So somewhere in one of the
init scripts it's setting it. Since it is not in any of the config files.

Also so 'su -' is how to get su to load roots env. Seems that Mandrake
and gentoo do this by default. Oh well, good info to have. ;)
