Management Thought of the Month

Brought to you by The Corporate Performance Institute

November 2003 Edition

The Secret Ingredient for Success

A group of executives were surveyed/asked what makes a person successful.
Eighty percent listed enthusiasm as the single most important quality a person must have to be
successful in any organization.

Enthusiasm is something that we control internally through the habitual questions we ask ourselves
in our heads. The challenge is that many peopleask themselves poor questions that reduce
effectiveness and their enthusiasm.

Here are some good questions every manager should ask themselves on a daily/weekly basis.

Try them right now and see how much they increase your enthusiasm.

Questions:

What can I be enthusiastic about right now in my position/job?

How am I and this organization helping people improve their lives?

How am I making a difference in this organization?

What do I most enjoy about my position?

How can I be more motivated about my work?

All managers are fortunate to be in a position that has lasting impact on the people around them.
Ask yourself these questions regularly and get your staff to do the same.
I guarantee morale will improve dramatically.

Have a successful month!
