Ardour is about to finally release version 1.0, next month I think. It
is an open source Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) for Linux. That's the
closest thing to pro audio you'll find for linux. Audacity is a very
good multi-track audio editor. Rosegarden will do MIDI recording and
audio integration, but I'm not sure how of the quality of audio
recording. For just recording MIDI, I think Rosegarden will do just
fine for you. Once you get your MIDI done, record it with one of the
other audio focused packages and lay your tracks on top of that. There
may be some other tricks you can pull of with these three applications
in combination.
