Greetings Lugnuts!

I have a problem with my gentoo system, hopefully someone can answer.

problem running the mplayer or the kde cd player used to work and now
tells me it can't open the device. The problem started when I was trying
to get my usb card reader to work.

/dev/dvd permissions 660 owned by root.cdrom my account is a member of
the cdrom group
i can mount /dev/dvd from a command prompt i can not run the dvd from
mplayer as my user id
i can kdseu to root with mplayer and it works.
changing the permissions to 777 doesn't take and doesn't complain.
I am running the devfs daemon.

Any suggestions for me to try tonight?

Thanks all,
Brian
