I have found that when working with Linux, given all the different ways to do
things and all of the possible sources for errors, there is no substitute to
taking a consistent, methodical approach. When you mix methods and sources as
you have, things inevitably fail to match up without a lot of digging and
customizing.

Everything I have installed pror to Horde/Imp was installed from RedHat RPM's,
as supplied by RedHat. No source RPMs were used, nothing was complied.

One system did have extensive customisation on it, but I don't think anything
essential that affects Apache, PHP, or Horde was changed.

I did have to download the newere PEAR libraries from Horde - the newer ones
have a LOWER version number but a MORE RECENT DATE.

Other than that, I have a default Apache installation (tested and working), I
un-tarred Horde and moved it to /var/www/http/horde, and I used
<webaddress>/horde/test.php to guide me through anything that wasn't covered in
the INSTALL. I have referred to the Administrator's FAQ
(http://www.horde.org/faq/admin/) for a couple of details beyond standard
installation.
