file systems

We have run RH 7.2 on several Dell Optiplex GX110's with ext2 and ext3.
Running the system with an ext3 filesystem results in a system that seems to
run slower. No actual testing was done it just felt slower. The machines
are configured the same. In fact one machine was built with ext3 and then
rebuilt with ext2. The machine performance seemed to improve after going
back to ext2.
The big advantage to using ext3 would be if your system went down hard.
Running RH 7.2 with our Dell M991 monitors is a pain in the arse. X kept
locking up on me so I took my machine down a few times. It took nearly 10
minutes to get it back up one time because I had to keep fscking the file
systems until they were completely fixed.
Look up ext3 on google and you should find some decent articles that explain
it in english.
