non-winmodem modems

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know where I can get a non-winmodem (i.e. hardware) external 
modem in the KC area?  Also, how can I tell by looking at the box if it is a

winmodem or not? I am not ready to buy it yet, but I was looking around and 
having trouble finding one.  My new Dell came with a winmodem that will not 
work under linux.
