New installation trouble...

I'm trying to install Linux-Mandrake 7.02 on a stripped-down box (you may
recall my excitement over my wife's new PC... this is her old PC).

I've removed the soundcard, swapped its old DVD for my CDROM (bios wouldn't
allow boot from DVD), removed the old MoDem... all boards not needed have
been removed in order to simplify the installation. I formatted the old Fat
drive, and partitioned 20M /boot, 64M/Linux-Swap and about 7.8G/(root).
After I select the packages to install, it acts as if it is just about to
install them, then it craps out. I can see errors re: Locale. Here's what
I can make out (3 repeats that I can see, then abnormal end):

***** BEGIN UNWANTED ERROR CRAP *****

Anyone experience this before?

I'm going to try Corel, and hope to hear from some of you for the
Linux-Mandrake, later on.

Thank you.
