Which SCSI ID is the Controller Card?

Is there a way to terminate the HDD?  Are you trying to plug in both devices?  If both are on the 
same chain/cable, you only terminate the last device via a jumper or terminator plug.  On drives it 
will usually be a jumper unless they are in an external case.  External scanners, printers and 
drive boxes usually use the terminator plugs.   That's just my experience.  I would assume since it 
is an old ISA SCSI card that it doesn't have a BIOS so that you can see the settings of the card 
and attached devices.  Anyway, if the devices are on two separate chains/cables, then they each 
need to be terminated.

On the device you should see a block of about 8 jumper pins.  Almost all the drives I have messed 
w/ have these.   Her you set the device number.  You will have to use trial and error, but they are 
usually the same for all devices, should start w/ 0 (zero) on the left and get larger to the right. 
  The card is almost always 0 or 7.  Just pick something else and then the other smaller block of 
about 4 pins will allow you to terminate.  I don't think it will kill the drive if you start it up 
and don't have it terminated, it just won't work and you'll get the "non-system disk" or some other 
error msg.   If the pins for termination are not off by themselves, they will be on the right.

As always, provide the info you do have when you want help troubleshooting or configuring some 
device we can't see.  I just thought of something.  Some of the SCSI cards came with other devices 
(in the box w/ a scanner).  If you know this is the case, look at the OEM site of the device (Umax 
for example).
