very strange DNS problem, plot thickens

As a matter of fact, yeah:
$ORIGIN nbbc.edu.
NS2     91118   IN      A       207.250.169.12  ;NT=15
Cr=addtnl [192.55.83.32]
NS1     91118   IN      A       207.250.169.11  ;NT=8
Cr=addtnl [192.55.83.32]

In fact, this info appears to be correct.  Of course,
for some reason I can't even lookup ns1.cddb.edu on
this machine, even though it is apparently cached. 
Zuh?
