Never ceases to amaze

Well with WinXP most things can be installed with it turned on
and without ever rebooting. The only rebooting I have seen with
peripherals are those with multiple part installs (like dual modem/nic
cards) and a few rare items. XP is the first WinOS that is flexible like
this. As for OS/2, I have no idea how that is supposed to relate to
Linux, but I have never used it before (and doubt I will ever get the
chance). Up until recently Microsoft has been known for dragging its
feet on features, because it was cheaper for them to develop that way
and up until recently they could get away with it without any major
competition.
As for my writing style, I just am a very long-winded writer and
know the value of paragraph organization to the eyes of a reader!!!!

As I understand it, OS2 was demonstrating hot plug-and-play of multiple
identical cards in the early nineties. Microsoft still requires a
rebooting. I don't know if hotplugging anything other than PCMCIA cards
and disk drives works with linux kernels or not.

I'm also stunned at the similarity between Patrick's and Jim's writing
styles.
