The Acer One has some very interesting hardware and I'm still finding more 
surprises...

Try the newest 2.6.27 kernels with the native ath5k wireless driver.  Did 
you know the Atheros AR5006EG chip has 58 channels up to 2.732 GHz at 
501mW?  You can find these settings in /usr/src/linux/net/wireless/reg.c
