I dunno. All of my local openoffice docs started crashing when I installed my Brother laser printer - don't know if there's any connection, but most docs will crash oo if I try to print, and after that, they'll crash when opening and all I can get is a blank doc. oocalc can't open gnumeric spreadsheets - how stupid is that?
