Most of the Linux versions I've messed with, as well as some VMS and Unix systems, understand that "dir" means "ls". I suspect that this is either very basic - IE written into the shell - or it's simply an add-on "DOSUtils" package. Anybody know for sure? The question comes up because a recent version of OS-X does NOT understand "dir".
