Have you gone into aumix or some other mixer and verified that your
sound isn't muted?
You may want to check that. I think some distros have sound muted by
default.
Good luck.

Subject: Debian Audio Problems?

Hey everybody,

I am having a bit of an odd problem with my audio in Woody. I hosed my
system and had to re-install. I had sound working before, and I have the
same modules installed. /dev/dsp has the correct permissions set, my
user is a member of the audio group, and there are no error messages. I
checked the connection on my computer, and on the speakers. Still, no
audio. Anybody ave this sort of thing happen with Debian? Because it's
really bothering me.

John
