Oh, sorry, one of the links covered that. Douglas Adams' favorite cameo
in Audio Books was Arajag, the creature who always seemed to be
accidentally killed by Arthur Dent every time Arajag was reincarnated as
something new, so the radio series features recordings made by Douglas
Adams playing the part of Arajag for a HitchHiker's Audio Book series.

So to clarify: the radio series itself is NEW, but the recordings of
Douglas Adams playing the part of Arajag are OLD, or at least pre-2001.

(No, Arajag was not the Whale. He was the Bowl Of Petunias, "Oh no, not
again.")

I hope Douglas Adams isn't going to be doing any new series, or books, or
say, breathing, as he died in 2001. From your email you made it sound
like these were NEW series starring Mr. Adams. I am assuming these are
rebroadcasts?

Just read off a cult TV website hosted by the BBC that not only is Doctor
Who coming back to British TV (actors considered for the new doctor have
been Alan Davies, John Cleese, and Dawn French), but that the BBS will
definitely be doing a radio series of first "Life, The Universe And
Everything" (Spring 2004), and a second series combining "So Long, And
Thanks For All The Fish" with "Mostly Harmless" (Fall 2004).
And a movie is finally in the works for "The HitchHiker's Guide To The
Galaxy".

Both series' will feature six of the original cast members: Simon Jones
(Arthur Dent), Geoffrey McGivern (Ford Prefect), Mark Wing-Davey (Zaphod
Beeblebrox), Susan Sheridan (Trillian), Stephen Moore (Marvin) and
announcer John Marsh. It will also feature the author, Douglas Adams,
playing the character Arajag.

BBC Radio Times readers (12,000 votes) give majority votes for "series
they'd most like to see return to TV" to Doctor Who in first place with
31%, Blackadder in second place with 21%, and Fawlty Towers in third
place with 10%.

And the Sixth Doctor (Fifth Incarnation) talks about the new Doctor Who
TV series at:

Tom Baker, the Fourth Doctor (Third Incarnation), feels that Eddie Izzard
should play the title role of Doctor Who...but you'll never guess Tom
Baker's choice for the Master!

Eddie Izzard says he probably can't do it.
