I suppose this is true if you go out to download, install, and run every
service known.  There are a wealth of servers you can run on your linux
box.  I think this is what he is trying to say.

But most folks just run what is necessary as system resources are limited.  
Not everyone needs to run the whole list of /etc/services.

I have run linux as a webserver and other amusements for several years.  
My friends share the same experience.  No one I have known has experienced
funny stuff.  Now, my friends who use Windows have a different experience
and suffer a daily battle...
