Toshiba 7020CT and winmodem in RH 8.0

I recently installed Red Hat 8.0 on a Toshiba 7020CT laptop. Naturally, 
the winmodem doesn't work.

I read about a driver on Linux-Laptop.net, downloaded and attempted to 
install it. Evidently it was compiled under an earlier kernel. It will 
not work with the latest distribution.

I have spent a long time looking for the new version of the driver 
without any results. Does anyone know of  a driver that will work?

The modem is a Lucent DSP1646(Mars2). RH 8.0 uses Linux kernel 2.4.18-14.
