Sound on my Thinkpad 600e, & the wireless card

I've had good luck using the GUI config tools, but you have to be logged in as 
root for them to work and save the settings.  I've also found that sound 
worked better for me in Gnome than in KDE.  I had it working on a 380z with 
Mandrake 9.2.
