Uhm, he's talking about the boot process, not the 
install process.  I'm not sure how you would launch
X before a kernel is even loaded.  Slackware is 
perfectly capable of launching X.  It just doesn't
_default_ to launching X.  You definitely can't 
load X before you have booted the kernel though.
