Linux graphical boot menu

Simple. 
Mandrake and RedHat launch X. Slackware doesn't. 
It's part of the "bootdisk" and init process.

long story short.

What happens is a bootable system is built
where the init process launches an installer. This system is then burned
to cd.

Not sure what you are asking for. I worked on creating my own distro for
a while,
it is a lot of work.
