Try http://wu-ftpd.org.  In particular, load up http://wu-ftpd.org/CHANGES
and search for "secur" and "overflow".

To be fair, a lot of work has been done in recent years to improve WU's
security.  However, the number of time's I've had to update it has left a
bad taste in my mouth, much like sendmail.  I now refuse to run either
product.
