How to make another bootable linux partion / installation on the same disk

i don't know if you could use this do multiple flavors of linux but this is
how i set up with windows:
 
winblows 2k in primary partition
SuSE linux on second partition
i created a boot disk with lilo
copied the contents of the boot disk into win 2k root
add line to boot.ini file for linux

would this work for multiple linux versions?
i.e. could i create a third partition, install red hat 7.3 and add a line to
boot.ini for it as well?
