RESEARCH IN MOTION TEAMS WITH AT&T WIRELESS
Research In Motion, maker of BlackBerry handheld devices, has inked a
deal with AT&T Wireless to develop a device for use with AT&T's
high-speed GPRS (general packet radio service) data network and with its
GSM voice network. The device looks similar to a regular BlackBerry but
comes with an earpiece and microphone, which enables it to double as a
telephone. The deal comes on the heels of an agreement between Research
In Motion and mmO2, formerly part of British Telecom, to enable
BlackBerry's wireless e-mail devices to work on mmO2 networks in several
European countries. (Reuters 29 Jan 2002)
