Talk to one of their salesmen. I'm speculating they would be pleased to
hear more stories just like yours.

I'm willing to bet most people who want "servers" to have a personal
playground for family and such. Most salesmen expect us to have profit
motives and want to tap from the potential revenue source. That's why you
will hear a big stink when you ask about server buzzwords, such as static
IP's, ftp accounts, domain hosting, etc. They are trained to move you
into "premium" accounts and maximize profit. Once you express the desire
for "features" the salesman will demand that a personal account will no
longer serve your needs.

I'm can just imagine how loud a salesman can get when a $44 order could
have been $200. The managers are more likely to hear the dollar signs he
promises and the rules will change. Investors cannot ignore those cries.
People seem to get promoted that way.
