Redhat 7.3 will run fine on these. I have a mix of 1850's, DL380s all over the country running Redhat 7.3 on them. The 2S Raid card in them is natively supported. (Symbos driver type) No problems with the Nics, you will have download the driver from HP. I have had issues with later units like the DL360's and Nics if they didn't have the latest Intel driver and speeds set but none with DL380. -----Original Message----- From: owner-kclug@kclug.org [mailto:owner-kclug@kclug.org] On Behalf Of jon.moss@cnonline.net Sent: Monday, August 16, 2004 1:57 PM To: Rob Becker Cc: kclug@kclug.org Subject: RE: Compaq DL380 - What Distro? No worries, I didn't take your comments wrong! :) My concern is the server hardware/architecture. I have the latest Compaq SmartStart CD (courtesy of the donor) and made sure my BIOS was up to date. But I've never installed any Linux on anything but workstations - two or three different models of Compaq Deskpros. While that was fairly easy, I'm losing sleep at night worrying about the array controller and the RAID setup on the four 18 GB drives. Harware is definitely not my forte. I can do it, but it takes a lot of patience and relaxing music. :) I was also a little concerned because RedHat 9 is no longer supported by RedHat, right? Hence I was thinking I should move to a different distrobution. Thanks for the advice.
