You thru in a few too many Winders requirements.   Novell has some free software available to 
integrate Linux into the Enterprise.  I was talking about desktop distro for user desktop and 
hardware requirements (he was talking minimal hardware if you read his post).  Can't handle the 
Zero complaints either.  Users never stop.  If you want this really bad you might want to send some 
dollars the way of Sus..Novell to make you a custom desktop.  I bet that is the road they intend to 
take, as well as porting Winders custom apps to Linux and Novell servers.

That said, Suse would be a really good choice for you.  Use KDE, trim out the productivity killers 
(cool games, admin apps).  KDE 3.2 looks to be very capable on the corp desktop.  Suse 9.0 comes w/ 
3.1.4 however.  KDE is working hard on a drop in replacement for the M$ groupware.  If you are in 
control of IT, call your third party vendors, tell them you are planning to move your desktop to 
Linux and that you will find another vendor if they can't port their app.  Identify how many users 
actually need or use macros in Office, those are the hardcore users.  Macros can be migrated 
however.  I wouldn't be surprised if someone is working on porting them directly to OO.o.  Any app 
you absolutely have to have on winders and can't migrate, you could use a remote desktop solution 
to enable users to get to it.  That's Terminal Server or Rdesktop to the Winders-heads.

You may wonder why I constantly use Winders to refer to the Redmond empire's OS.  I decided I 
needed to be consistent when referring to their product and I don't want to violate some sort of 
trademark or copyright.  Have you seen how many people use *nix to refer to Bell Labs' creation.

I'll take you up on that. I want a desktop distro that I can insert into our Novell infrastructure, 
that my Windows users and Windows-steeped tech staff can work with effectively, immediately, and 
that is completely transparent to our Windows-centric third-party software vendors and Windows 
addicted clients...with zero complaints from any of them in the process. I've googled and 
slashdotted until my fingers bled and can't find it anywhere, perhaps you will be more successful.
