I'm really liking Debian - I used the Libranet install and found it quite easy to update everything. I used grub so I had to modify /etc/kernel-img.conf to update the kernel - other than that it has been pretty much smooth sailing moving from RedHat. startkde didn't work (is this because it's libranet?), but I found using kdm there was no problem (kdm is a better choice than the default gdm). Unlike the RPM GUI package managers in RedHat (that frustrated rather than helped - I just used the command line) the synaptic manager is worth using. (I'm still reading up on the command line way of doing all this). What has me puzzled is that I don't see in /etc/apt-get/ the apt.conf file - instead there is apt.conf.d a directory that has only a one line file in it. - OK - I see in /etc/libranet/atp a config file, but it isn't what I expect?? Looks like I will have to figure out what to change to make this a stock Debian setup. -- -------------------------------------------------- Karl Schmidt EMail Karl@xtronics.com Transtronics, Inc.
