Um, recording lp is easy, don't bother with mic in, use line in, also 
use a good quality phono pre-amp, I have several that I would be willing 
to "lend" out.  Also, use a high quality needle, table, etc.  Modern 
vinyl is a whole different world than it was 30 years ago.   Also, I 
have found using silver wire for phono is quite beneficial, and improves 
the clarity.  Keep your cable runs under 1 foot, and you are good to
