Ah, sorry. You want to make sure you install some open source print drivers like gimp-print. Then you select a driver that matches your printer. Yes, you need to know where your printer is connected. KDE has some gui applications to show you what is connected to your USB ports. If you don't want to go that route, the information will be buried in the /proc directory tree. I can never remember where without scanning the subdirectories, /proc/sys/usb/*, /proc/devices and /proc/bus are what come off the top of me head. > -----Original Message----- > From: Matt G [mailto:linux@bizniche.com] > Sent: Tuesday, December 02, 2003 1:48 PM > To: Brian Densmore > Cc: kclug@kclug.org > Subject: Re: Decent, Networkable Color Printer > > > > Open up a browser and got to localhost:631, > > choose printer administration, > > choose add printer and fill in the details of the printer and choose > > a printer driver, > > then print a test page, > > done. > > And when it's asking for the location of the printer etc, i > should be giving > it a /dev/usb_something kind of location right?
