There's a nice little script called mirrorselect that grabs a list of servers that claimed to have voluntered, downloads a md5summed snippet from each, and compiles a list of the fastest. It also configures the system to fetch from the fastest ones first and then down the list. Now that everyone has seen it works, someone needs to go out and patent it.
