Yes, like most distros you can do an "Update" install of a new release, or you 
can keep an older release up to date with Mandrake Update and some cleverness 
in choosing mirror sites.

They distribute the wrong URLs for the update FTP sites, so when your system 
connects with Mandrake to get a list of mirrors they all fail.  By browsing 
to the main sites and finding the correct URL's you can manage though.

Current release is 9.1, old enough that they may be updating fairly soon - 
check the newsgroups.
