I would also be interested in meeting other people/independent
contractors.  I don't like discussing "business" on the list, as the list
lives on in the archives, and also it is impossible to judge character
unless you meet in person.  I have too much work to do at the moment, I
typically work 5 hours every night just trying to get somewhat remotely
caught up.  The key is, there is lots of work available, but it is in
markets you all may not be exploring.  Personally, I don't like this "hire
everyone as a contractor" mentality.
