Uh, those radio stations are "private" companies. Not governments. If you think that this is the first/only censorship by private companies... well.. wake up. The below mentioned companies have every right to play what they want on THEIR radio stations, calling it cencorship is a , like DUH. Radio stations self-censor themselves ALL THE TIME. And they have every right/justification to. Just like I can play any music I want, be it racist, biggoted, snotty, offensive I want in my own home, or even at my office on my headphones. > CencorshipWay, way Off Topic and I hate country music, but... > > -----Original Message----- > From: Bryan [mailto:kato@tencentral.com] > Sent: Friday, March 14, 2003 1:01 PM > To: kato@tencentral.com > Subject: FW: Censorship > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: John Evans [mailto:john@famousfm.com] > Sent: Friday, March 14, 2003 11:33 AM > To: Recipient List Suppressed: > Subject: Cencorship > > > > Whether or not you listen to the Dixie Chicks, something has to be > done > about the new campaign against all of us in their names. > > This evening, Intercom and Infinity Broadcasting have taken it upon > themselves to censor the freedom of speech of Natalie Maines, the lead > singer of the Dixie Chicks, for remarks she made at a concert in London. > She paused between songs and proclaimed to the audience, "Just so you > know, we're ashamed [that] the President of the United States is from > Texas." > > It is enough that these megla-conglomorates control what music people > know > and therefore what music they accept; now they have taken it upon > themselves to control their listeners' thoughts as well.
