Anyone got any experience with SpamAssassin and/or integrating it with qmail? I have a small MTA (40ish users) running qmail, and I'm about ready to start filtering mail through SpamAssassin. I have installed SA and done some initial tests to see that it's working. I have also been running qmail patched with the QMAILQUEUE patch for a couple weeks, in preperation for linking in filtering software. I now need to tweak the SA config, and start processing mail. Any preferred "tweaks" to the default SA setup would be appreciated (note: I'm already planning on using the daemonized mode), along with any advice on how best to call SA from qmail. I'm currently planning on setting the QMAILQUEUE variable in tcpserver (just like RCPTHOSTS) to run spamc so external messages will get scanned for SPAM prior to entering the queue. Other options that look promising include setting up qmail-qfilter or qmail-scanner. I don't have any virus scanning software, so it looks like the complexity of qmail-scanner is currently overkill, and I don't think I need to use qmail-qfilter if I only want to run SpamAssassin (which pretty much includes all the SPAM tests I was wanting to check anyway, including optional support for bayesian filtering). NOTE: I am currently planning on using (and have installed) the optional razor filter for SpamAssassin. Any suggestions on configuring or using razor within SA would also be greatly appreciated. -- Charles Steinkuehler charles@steinkuehler.net
