It's still a rip off. I'm paying $160 per month for 2.8 Mb download and 850 Kb upload and 5 static IP addresses. I'll call Business RR and get more information. Until these last mile providers loosen up their prices, the Internet backbone providers will always run at <15% capacity. Covad SDSL 1.544 Mbps is $359 per month. Covad T1 (1.544 Mbps) (not distance sensitive) is $675 per month. I'm still waiting on quotes for OC-3 in my area. :) -----Original Message----- From: owner-kclug@marauder.illiana.net [mailto:owner-kclug@marauder.illiana.net] On Behalf Of Jonathan Hutchins Sent: Friday, November 01, 2002 8:08 AM To: 'Marvin [GodfatherofSoul] Bellamy'; 'kclug@kclug.org' Subject: RE: Data rates > -----Original Message----- > From: Marvin [GodfatherofSoul] Bellamy [mailto:mbellamy@kc.rr.com] > The DA should be at their office door ... Get a reality check, Marvin. Their price for 1.5/1.5 is $400/mo. Have you priced a T1 lately? I've worked with people in other parts of the country where Cable/DSL wasn't available, and from your reaction you'd just drop stone dead to see what decent connectivity really costs.
