Mandrake kicks butt!!! First off, let me preface my comments with the fact that I just got through switching my old HP 8100 CD-RW to my wife's machine, which is running Windows 98, because her CD-ROM had shot craps. After various reboots, hair pullings, driver installs and removals, reboots, troubleshooting, more hair pulling, and more reboots, I finally got everything working on her machine. I got my TDK drive from Amazon today. I stuck it in, and the first time I booted up, I had two masters on that IDE channel, so neither of my CDs were recognized. Duh! I shutdown, and straightened that out. This time when I booted, Hardrake issued one extra message on the way up, and it just works. It's the easiest hardware install I think I have ever done! I'm ready to burn some of those Demo Linux CDs now! Linux Rocks!
