The real place that needs qualified candidates is the HR departments. How many times have we all read ads that sounded like the person leaving was giving them a laundry list of "ya' gotta have all this to be me" of things and then handing it to the HR department? The HR department scans for the skillset required and then comes up short when they don't have another "Bob with xxxxxx skills" person. 30 candidates that could do the job and they're looking for that one magic bullet. As others have pointed out though, they are looking for that one person because they don't have to train them. Training IMHO is a joke anyway -- I've always learned more doing than being lectured to. The "real world" and "text book" are two far different things when it comes to knowledge. That reminds me of my favorite part from a John Mayer song, "No Such Thing": So the good boys and girls take the so called right track Faded white hats Grabbing credits Maybe transfers They read all the books but they can't find the answers Bradley Miller, Programmer/webmaster AccessZone Design - www.accesszonedesign.com Blue Springs, Missouri office Phone: 816-228-3814 Fax: 775-254-6162 <-- NEW!!
