Hey, I heard about this thing called open source software.  You can just log
in and check out code and work on it and make it better.  Then, once you've
created a Ciriculum Vitae of valuable improvements, you offer your services
in maintaining and improving the code, and implementing customized changes
for specific businesses.  There are even sites where you can bid on work!

Unfortunately, that's all for coders.  Sysadmins are another matter
entirely.
