Hey, turn off the rich text! -----Original Message----- From: Patrick Thurmond [mailto:p_thurmond@yahoo.com] Hi everybody, I was wondering, does anyone know of any local stores that are selling Mandrake 8.2 yet? Also can Samba read an NTFS partition created by a Winblows XP (Xtra Poop) machine? Just wondering because I finally have a swappable drive situation now and I want booth bootable HDD's to be able to access a 60GB hdd running an NTFS partition created in XP. ---------------------------- There is experimental code available in the Kernel to directly read NTFS partitions, but they advise that you should not use the code to write to those partitions unless you are prepared to loose them. This has nothing to do with Samba, Samba provides network services from NT Servers on xNIX boxen, and allows the xNIX boxen to share with Windows clients. It should be noted that one of the things Microsoft is moving from NT4 to W2k to WXP for is to keep ahead of the Samba project. One of the things that's been rumored to change in XP is that NTFS is no longer NTFS.
