I am having some problems using the gcc compiler on my Mandrake 8
system.  Every time I try and make a program, it fails.  Actually, it
fails on the ./configure step because the 'as' command keeps giving me a
segmentation fault.  Here are the current packages that I am using:

gcc-2.96-0.48mdk
gcc-cpp-2.96-0.48mdk
gcc-c++-2.96-0.48mdk
binutils-2.10.1.0.2-4mdk
