Central Location: There are 49 local user groups with one day drive. The ill-fated LinuxFest 2000 had attendees from St. Louis, Wichita, and Austin, TX. 2). Three letters: BBQ. Barbecue is a religious topic in Kansas City. The arguments can get every bit as heated as which distributsion, Vi/Emacs, or Gnome/KDE. 3). Lower costs: Kansas City is less expensive than other areas of the country. 4). Geeks with Guns: Full auto. 'nuff said. 5). Large convention space: Bartle Hall as 400,000 square feet of space. 6.)
