::adjusting asbestos underwear:: I've been on this mailing list for a month or so. My status in this group could be described as "lurker newbie", as I am new to Linux and don't really have much to add at this point. I haven't attended meetings because my wife has Jazzercise on Wednesdays and I have to watch our son. So forgive me if my comments are not welcome. A while back, someone asked for suggestions for the web site. Some things I would like to see: schedule of upcoming topics and a summary of previous meetings, with code samples where applicable. info about area events such as the upcoming LinuxFest, and links to official sites links to useful/interesting Linux-friendly sites like Freshmeat, Slashdot, Themes, UserFriendly some information about the group and its members -- number of members (at least regular attendees), composition of group (% of programmers, sys admins, avid users, etc. ) Perhaps an online survey, and maybe a "Geek of the Week"-type focus on a random individual. Just some way to give potential members a glimpse of the kind of company they would be keeping. Maybe these are dumb ideas, but I thought I would throw them out there. I'm not trying to dump a bunch of work in anybody's lap, either. I'll help if I can, just know that I have NO artistic ability and my web design tool of choice is Notepad. Which brings me to one last thought. This whole argument about what tool to use to maintain the web site is asinine. I personally don't care if one uses FrontPage, vi, or freakin' copy con. Actually, I like the idea of using Microsoft products to lure people away from Microsoft. There's a sadistic irony to it that appeals to me. It's kinda like shooting somebody with their own gun. %) Cory Root
